Which types of files can I open with Narrator?

Currently, the following types of files can be opened by Narrator:

  • Plain Text Files (word-processor files with extension .TXT)
  • Rich Text Files (word-processor files with extension .RTF)
  • Microsoft Word Files (word-processor files with extension .DOC)
  • HTML Files (Web-page files with extensions .HTML, .HTM, etc.)

Opening files with Narrator is just like opening a file with any other program: either select Open with in the file's contextual menu (option-clicking the file icon) or choosing File > Open...

It is also possible to paste text into Narrator from any of a variety of sources, including Web browsers or any other program that allows for selecting and copying text. Narrator will attempt to preserve the formatting of pre-formatted text pasted into a Narrator document from another source.
