Yes, if you are using an older version of the app we would definitely recommend looking into upgrading. Older versions of MacGourmet are not compatible with the latest OS and have known stability issues. The good news is that non Mac App Store users with these versions qualify for the MacGourmet Deluxe 4 upgrade price of $24.95 and will be able to import your recipes into the new version automatically. By the way, if you are wanting to sync your recipes between your Mac and iOS devices, you'll also need to pick up Gourmet Mobile for iOS in the App Store too. You can do that here...

With both MGD4 and Gourmet you will be able to sync your recipes via your free cloud account at Mariner Cloud.
